Qatar, government attempts to rescue banks from bankruptcy

Following the flight of capital from Qatar following the Gulf boycott, the government moved to Doha to rescue the banking sector from bankruptcy, as it pumped about $ 43 billion in banks last year, according to S & P Global Credit Ratings.

The Qatari government and its subsidiaries pumped money into the country's financial system on the back of a $ 22 billion flight from the country between June and December 2017, said the director of financial services at the agency.

Qatar relies heavily on foreign deposits to support its banking system and plans to spend $ 200 billion to host the 2022 World Cup.
