Egyptian presidential elections: the start of voting abroad

Egypt's presidential election will begin on Friday March 16, 2018, for Egyptians abroad, and will last three days, at 139 polling stations around the world.

The National Elections Commission announced that it had completely completed the provision of all paperwork, supplies and requirements within the headquarters of all embassies and consulates abroad.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Ghad Party head Musa Mustafa Musa are competing. While there are no estimates of the number of Egyptian voters abroad, the number of eligible voters in Egypt is estimated at 60 million.

The elections are scheduled to take place from March 26 to 28, 2018.

Al-Sisi called on voters yesterday to participate heavily, regardless of their views and opinions. He said during a visit to the Interior Ministry that he "prefers the arrival of a large number of Egyptians for the presidential elections even if they get one third of their votes, to lower the number and give them their votes," noting that "the arrival of Egyptians for the elections will be a support for the state and its project."
