Medbouli, 52, received his PhD in architecture, specializing in urban planning from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Urban Planning, Urbanization Department, Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
He received training courses at prestigious universities. He received his Executive Management Certification from Harvard Business School in 2003 under the auspices of USAID and the Egyptian government.
He also received a training course on Urban Renewal of Cities and Development of New Towns for a month in Seoul, South Korea, in 2001.
Mustafa Kemal Madbouli, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of Egypt, has been in operation since February 2014.
Prior to that, he served as the Regional Director of the Arab States "United Nations Human Settlements Program - Habitat", specifically from November 2012 to February 2014.
He also served as Chairman of the General Authority for Urban Planning, contributing to national projects, including managing the project of preparing the general strategic plans and the urban blocks of the cities and villages of the Republic.
In addition, Medbouli directed the project team to prepare the long-term strategic plan for the Greater Cairo Region, in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
He has held positions in international institutions in the field of urban planning and housing. He has worked as an international consultant and expert for the World Bank, UNDP, ILO, and the Korean Technical Cooperation Organization to develop housing policies, planning and urban development and to train and train technical staff for Arab and African countries.
