Algeria: Bouteflika tries to impose a fifth term by force

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, 81, is trying to pull out a presidential term for the fifth time amid the rejection of the Algerian street.

The Algerian security forces arrested a number of political activists who demonstrated in Martyrs Square in Algiers against the candidacy of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika for a fifth term, stressing that it is time for change.

Algerian presidential elections will be held during the first six months of 2019 to choose a president of the Algerian Republic for a term of five years ending in 2024.
