The raids targeted the sites and bases of the "Zeinabiyoun Brigade" militia in the two provinces of Al-Jalaa and Al-Hamdan, west of the city of Albu Kamal, on the border with Iraq in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, which is one of the non-Syrian armed groups loyal to Iran.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the death toll is likely to rise, as some of them were wounded, some in serious cases, and that the bombing destroyed sites and vehicles. The observatory stated that all of the dead were "of Pakistani nationality."
