Tunisia: The ministerial modification of the Tunisian government won the confidence of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People despite the president of the republic and a popular objection.
In the voting session on the ministerial amendment proposals, 193 deputies, a total of 219, participated in the change, and the change included 11 ministerial portfolios, in addition to deleting the plan of a state secretary for finance, abandoning the ministry in charge of constitutional bodies, the relationship with civil society, and joining the interests of it to the presidency of the government.
The President of Tunisia, Qais Saeed, had objected to the ministerial change during a meeting of the National Security Council, especially since some of the proposed names related to them issues, making their allies the constitutional oath "not essential," as he put it.
In response to the interventions of the representatives during the public debate, Al-Meshishi stressed that the proposed team was carefully selected and after scrutiny, pledging to take the necessary measures if it is proven certain that what harms the integrity of anyone.
The vote-granting session took place amidst tight security measures, as the security closed all ports leading to Bardo Square and surrounded Parliament with armored cars, amid demonstrations and chants calling for the fall of the regime and protests against the regime of repression and arrests that included demonstrators in states inside the republic in recent days.
After a vote session, the proposed names gained confidence, and the deputies avoided dissolving the parliament, which had threatened it since its formation in the spring of 2020, after the overthrow of Habib Jemli's government and the reluctance acceptance by the majority party, the Ennahda Movement, of the government of Hisham al-Mishishi, which was not based on the party quota system.
The following are details of the vote for each of the new ministers, in which 193 deputies participated.
