A new scientific achievement, about Alzheimer's disease

A team of scientists in California was able to identify the protein associated with the gene apoE4, a high-risk gene, which is the cause of Alzheimer's disease, and succeeded in preventing it from damaging human brain cells in the brain.

This new medical discovery opens the way for the development of a new drug capable of stopping the disease, but researchers said the invention of a drug for the disease is still subject to experiments in scientific laboratories.

The study found that the presence of one gene of apoE4 doubles the risk of Alzheimer's disease, while the presence of two genes increases the risk of the disease 12 times.

Previous studies have indicated that one in four people carry this gene. Alzheimer's disease, which causes poor memory, is common among older people, responsible for about 70 percent of dementia.
