Symptoms of food poisoning and methods of treatment

The British National Health Service has revealed the most important symptoms of food poisoning, saying it begins to appear within a few days of eating contaminated food; but sometimes it begins after a few hours.

Symptoms of food poisoning:

Feeling sick.

Diarrhea

Stomach cramps

High body temperature to 38 degrees and higher.

Feeling tired in general, fatigue, and chills.

Treatment of food poisoning:

Treatment of food poisoning usually depends on the source of the disease, if known, and the severity of the symptoms, according to the Mayo Clinic center.

For most people, the disease disappears untreated within a few days; although some types of food poisoning may last longer.

In some cases, the patient may need to replace fluid lost due to diarrhea and disease.

Depending on the underlying cause and severity of the symptoms, your doctor may prescribe antibiotic treatment, which (at the same time) will not help treat food poisoning caused by viruses.

Mayo Clinic has warned that antibiotics may actually exacerbate symptoms in certain types of viral or bacterial food poisoning.

Prevention of food poisoning:

You can reduce your risk of food poisoning by maintaining high standards of hygiene.

A simple tip is to wash your hands well with soap and water, and dry them before and after eating, including meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables, according to the National Health Administration.

In addition, be sure to cook well poultry, burgers, sausages and kebabs.

Diagnosis of food poisoning disease:

Food poisoning is often diagnosed based on the duration of the disease, its symptoms and the specific foods that you have eaten, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The doctor can perform diagnostic tests, such as a blood test, stool analysis, or parasite testing, to determine the cause and confirm the diagnosis, as the health site shows.
