Catastrophic results of a study on the relationship of cats to the Coronavirus

Egyptian news vision: - A study on the relationship between the Coronavirus and cats showed catastrophic results, as it was found that it transmits COVID 19 disease to humans, while this pet, which is present in many homes, can resist this disease.

The study was conducted by researchers from Huazhong Agricultural University, in Wuhan, where the virus was first discovered, and the researchers took blood samples and nose and anus swabs from 102 cats in the city between March and January 2020.

The results revealed that 15 of these cats had antibodies to "Covid-19," and out of the 15, 11 cats had neutralizing antibodies, which are very successful proteins in binding to the virus and stop it.

The 102 cats were a mix of stray species, housed in a shelter, as well as with a vet or family-owned.

It is also important to note that the cats did not show any symptoms, and no deaths were recorded among them.

And it turns out that the three cats with the highest levels of antibodies are owned by an individual sick with "Covid-19".

Researchers believe that humans may need to isolate themselves from their pets if a person tests positive for the Coronavirus.

According to the study, antibodies in cats showed that the type of reaction that cats produce is similar to that observed in cases of seasonal coronavirus infection.

"We suggest that cats have great potential as an animal model for evaluating antibody properties against SARS-CoV-2, in humans," the study said.
