The relationship between sleep quality and weight Sleep tensions affect a person's control of his appetite

The relationship between sleep quality and weight

Egyptian news vision: - A new scientific study, published by the "Gamma" medical journal, concluded that a person cannot control his appetite due to the small number of hours of sleep or sleep disturbances.

The study adds that lack of control over appetite is a cause of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

The study focused on the sleep quality of about 12,000 people for a full two years, and linked it to the Body Mass Index (BMI), a formula that scientists use to assess the normal weight of a person.

The study found that people who have a BMI of more than 30 points (obesity level) have a shorter average sleep than normal.

They also have altered sleep patterns.

The study showed that these people slept 15 minutes less compared to their leaner counterparts, and this confirms sleep's association with weight and a person's general health.

The results of this study supported previous research, and were not surprising, with the need for further studies in this area.
