The arrest of the Minister of Interior in the Libyan Government of National Accord

Egyptian news vision: - The Minister of Interior in the Libyan Government of National Accord, Fathi Ali Pasha Agha, was suspended from reserve work and referred to an administrative investigation after gunmen shot protesters.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Khaled Ahmed Al-Tijani Mazen, was assigned to run the ministry's duties.

The minister will be investigated regarding permits, permissions, and the provision of the necessary protection for the demonstrators and the statements issued by him regarding the demonstrations and the resulting events in Tripoli and some other cities, and any violations committed against the demonstrators will be investigated.

In a statement, Pasha Agha expressed his willingness to appear for investigation, but demanded that it be broadcast on television to ensure "transparency".

Pasha Agha said that the attack on the demonstrators was "by an armed group, using their weapons, firing random bullets and using machine guns and cannons", denouncing that "some demonstrators were kidnapped and forcibly disappeared and caused panic among the citizens."

The decision to suspend the Minister of Interior coincided with reports of the escalation of the dispute between the head of the reconciliation government, Fayez al-Sarraj, and Pasha Agha, who is considered one of the prominent Libyan figures.

Pasha Agha, who is from the coastal city of Misurata, played a pivotal role in repelling the attack launched by eastern Libyan forces on Tripoli for about 14 months, which the Government of National Accord forces managed to thwart with the support of Turkey.

The arrested minister is appreciated by international supporters of the Government of National Accord, especially after he announced steps to curb the armed groups in Tripoli.
