In a rare archaeological discovery, Egypt reveals statues of mummified lions

During an exhibition at the famous amphitheater in Saqqara, south of Cairo, the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced details of a new archaeological discovery.

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities said that animal mummies, including two mummies of two small lions, several crocodiles, birds, cats, and other objects were found in a vast cemetery.

If it is common to find stuffed cats, it is rare to find lions.

The ministry said all animal mummies date back to the late Pharaonic era (between 664 and 332 BC).
