Britain to resume flights at London City airport after bomb dismantled

British authorities opened London City airport after dismantling a bomb dating back to World War II on the River Thames near the airport.

All flights to and from the city's fifth largest airport were canceled after a 500-kg bomb was found at George V Marina, east of London.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it had evacuated an area 215 meters from the bomb, including several residential streets, while Royal Navy bomb experts dismantled the bomb.

London City Airport is located in the East London area of Docklands, an area heavily bombed by Nazi Germany during World War II.
