Anatolia: Attempt to assassinate Turkish President Erdogan

The Turkish Anatolia news agency reported that it received news that the Turkish intelligence services had received information that a plan to assassinate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was being used by a Balkan group of Turkish origin during his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday.

She said Turkish intelligence was verifying reports from Turks living near the Macedonian capital of Skopje about "a plot to assassinate Erdogan.

Western intelligence services have also told their Turkish counterparts about the "readiness of a Turkish group to assassinate Erdogan during his next visit to the Balkans."

The Turkish intelligence services launched an inquiry into the matter after receiving identical information from various sources.

Erdogan is on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday, during which he will meet senior Bosnian officials.

For his part, the Turkish government spokesman, Bakr Bouzdag, that "Erdogan's visit to Bosnia will be held on time."

Bouzdag, in tweets via his Twitter account, said the government was "aware of the existence of troubled circles from Erdogan and wanted to get rid of him."
