Turkey has no evidence of involvement in Riyadh, and Saudi Arabia receives sanctions for Khashoggi's death

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:- US President Donald Trump acknowledged for the first time that Khashoggi had probably died, vowing a "very harsh" response to Riyadh if he was to blame for his death.

These statements show a clear change in the tone of the American president. In recent days, he has taken a less hawkish stance and highlighted the enormous strategic interests his country has in the Sunni kingdom, including the fight against terrorism and the need to counter Iran's Shiite influence as well as arms contracts and economic benefits.

The United States has decided to give Saudi Arabia a "few more days" to explain Khashoggi's disappearance after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the aim was to "make decisions on how the United States would respond to this event."

Although there is no evidence so far of the death of Jamal Khashoggi, and the news that Turkey has records of his death is confirmed to be false, Saudi Arabia has begun to receive US sanctions-like measures.

US Treasury Secretary Stephen Menuchin confirmed that he did not participate in an economic forum called by Saudi Arabia, against the backdrop of suspicions surrounding Riyadh on the subject of the Saudi journalist.

Many ministers and heads of companies canceled their participation in the conference because of Khashoggi's case, notably French Minister of Economy Bruno Lemerre, British Trade Minister Liam Fox and Dutch Finance Minister Fobke Hoekstra.
