Germany, Munich: - Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said that Saudi Arabia called for peace, then retreated and did not complete the dialogue, and we want an initiative for peace in the region, while "these people refuse," referring again to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

This statement was made by the Iranian minister, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Forum, and said, "We received a message from Saudi Arabia after the killing of Soleimani and we followed it up and we responded to it, but the kingdom did not respond from its side again."

Zarif said, "The Saudi message was that we want a respectful dialogue with Iran, and we responded to the message with yes, but we did not receive a new response."

He continued, "We wrote to Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain and Oman for a peace initiative in the Arab Gulf, but some did not respond."

And about secret contacts between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Zarif said, "There are no messages from the kingdom on any peace initiative," adding, "Saudi Arabia and the UAE want there to be tension in the region."

"There are countries in the Gulf region that have responded to the Hormuz peace initiative proposed by Iran, including Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Oman," Zarif said.
