Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:- Egypt's football star, and Liverpool's Englishman Mohamed Salah at the beginning of 2019, won the 2018 African Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year.

Egypt's Mohamed Salah and Liverpool's English Premier League team beat their rivals Senegalese club Sadeo Mani and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emrek Obamyang, the same rivals last year.

Thus, Mohamed Salah is the only Egyptian player to have won this award twice, after having been received by Mahmoud Khatib in 1983.

Mohammed Salah won the African Player of the Year Award from the BBC, the second most important player on the continent, and was joined by Nwanko Kanu, Jay Jay Okusha and Yaya Toure, who won the prize twice.
