Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was jailed

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho will pay a fine of up to 2 million euros to the Public Prosecutor's Office after being charged with tax evasion during his time in Spain as coach of Real Madrid.

In addition to the fine, there is a suspended sentence of one and a half years. Mourinho was sacked from Manchester United and he took over Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

The pursuit of Mourinho comes within the framework of the Spanish judicial system aimed at combating tax evasion in the world of football.

Barca's Argentinian Lionel Messi and former Real Madrid and Italian Juventus have now reached Cristiano Ronaldo to reach a similar agreement with the Spanish judiciary.

The International Federation of Investigative Journalism accused Mourinho of concealing 12 million euros of tax in an account in Switzerland on behalf of a fictitious company registered in the British Virgin Islands.

Mourinho had been under a tax search in Spain and the figure had been revised to 4.4 million euros, including fines.
