European action against Turkey

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:- The European Union is working hard to crack down on Turkey because of offshore oil exploration off the Cypriot coast. The European Union has called for a halt to these operations, according to the Italian newspaper "Litora 34".

The news agency is talking about "threats" to Ankara to stop some aspects of dialogue and negotiations, especially with regard to transport, and hint at reducing pre-accession aid for next year.

According to European sources, European institutions want to move cautiously and precisely because of the delicate topics linking the European countries with Ankara, especially when it comes to the file of migration or energy.

The EU has repeatedly condemned Turkey's continued offshore gas exploration off the coast of Cyprus, which Brussels considers to be a violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus and of international law.
