Vision, Dubai United Arab Emirates:- A judicial source said that the National Financial Prosecution in France has opened, since May 1, 2021, an investigation into the wealth of the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh in Europe, after an investigation against Salameh and his brother Raja, and his close assistant Marianne Howayek in Switzerland.

The French judiciary is investigating a suspicion of "criminal conspiracy" and "money laundering in an organized gang", after complaints targeting Riad Salameh and his great wealth in Europe before the Anti-Corruption Prosecution in Paris.

According to the daily "Le Tan", the investigations are dealing with financial transfers of more than 300 million dollars made by the two men between Lebanon and Switzerland.

Salama stresses that all his money is authorized and legal, and that he accumulated his wealth from what he inherited, and through his career in the financial sector, knowing that he owns a luxury villa on the coast of Antibes in southeastern France.
