Tunisia: Judgment in the cases of the terrorist attackers in Bardo and Sousse

Abu Dhabi, Tunisia: The two biggest terrorist incidents in Tunisia have been judged since the fall of President Ben Ali's regime and the arrival of the Islamic Renaissance Movement.

The two terrorist incidents were the attack on the Bardo Museum and the Hotel Sousse in 2015, which killed dozens of foreign tourists and a Tunisian security officer.

Seven defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment for the attacks on Bardo and Sousse, and between 6 and 16 years' imprisonment, while 27 other defendants were acquitted.

There was no death sentence in these cases, which the Tunis court of first instance decided to refer to the appeal.

The defendants were tried in both cases under an anti-terrorism law adopted in the summer of 2015.
