Tunisian prime minister heads new party ahead of legislative elections

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:- Prior to the legislative elections to be held in Tunisia in the autumn of 2019, Tunisian Prime Minister Yousef Al-Shahid was officially elected as the leader of a party that his supporters called "Long live Tunisia".

Kamel Morjane, a prominent politician in the Zine El Abidine Ben Ali regime, was elected president of the party's National Council.

Members of the party said that Yousef Al-Shahid would not give up his post as prime minister until the elections, although his opponents take it that he uses the prime minister to carry out his campaign.

Yousef al-Shahid, who overturns the president of the republic and the Tunisian Appeal Party, enjoys the support of the Islamic Renaissance Movement, which continues to support the prime minister.

The party "Tahia Tunis", the second largest bloc in parliament, and arose from splits from the party, "Nidaa Tunis" presidential, which was formed in 2012 and allowed President Baiji commander Sibsi to take power.
