Egyptian News Vision: - The US Central Command confirmed that American fighters intercepted an Iranian airliner belonging to the airline "Mahan" in Syrian airspace, and said on its official account on "Twitter": "We conducted a routine air mission at a distance of 1000 meters from an Iranian plane, and the air mission was carried out while the plane was over Al-Tanf military base. "

"We conducted the mission to ensure the safety of the coalition soldiers at the base," she said, stressing that "the routine mission was carried out at a safe distance and according to international standards."

"A visual audit has been conducted to ensure the safety of the members of the international coalition in the Al-Tanf camp," said US Central Command spokesman Colonel Bell Urban.

"Once the F-15 fighter pilot identified it as a passenger plane for Mahan Air, the American fighter opened a safe distance for the aircraft, and the professional intersection was conducted by international standards," he added.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, said that the incident is under investigation and that his country will take the necessary legal and political measures.

It is noteworthy that Israel and the United States have long accused Mahan Air of transferring weapons to fighters linked to Iran in Syria and elsewhere.

The United States imposed sanctions on Mahan Air in 2011 and said it provided financial and other support to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which added to the tension between the two countries.

Two Iranian fighter planes approached an Iranian passenger plane over Syrian airspace, prompting the pilot to change the altitude quickly and injuring several passengers, according to the state radio and television agency IRNA.

The Fars News Agency also reported that the Iranian passenger plane, which two American fighters had approached in Syrian airspace, had landed in Tehran.

Iranian television showed video clips filmed by people on board the "Mahan Air" plane, showing passengers screaming when the plane's pilot suddenly changed course.
