These exercises will continue for 5 days and deal with the possibility of war in northern Israel, Iranian bombing and the outbreak of unrest in Arab residential communities and mixed cities.
"We will test what we have learned and experienced at levels that I did not expect with regard to the national front," said General Itzik Bar, Chief of Staff of the Home Front Command in the IDF.
Thousands of IDF soldiers participate in the exercise, during which sirens sound from time to time, as residents of the areas where the sirens are sounded will be asked to enter shelters or fortified rooms prepared for this.
The Hebrew newspaper, Haaretz, reported that for the first time, the exercise included the possibility of unrest in Arab society and mixed cities, as part of the lessons learned from Operation Protector of the Fences between the Palestinian factions and Israel during the month of May.
It is noteworthy that the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, had confirmed this month that his movement has "100 thousand armed and trained fighters", something that some Israeli military officials considered the second most serious threat to the country after Iran's nuclear energy.
