Daily Times, Dubai United Arab Emirates:- Former South African President Jacob Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty of contempt of court for not appearing before an anti-corruption commission this year on graft charges.

Former South African President Jacob Zuma did not appear before an investigation led by the Deputy Chief Justice, Raymond Zundu, in February 2021.

The investigation is looking into allegations of high-level graft during Zuma's presidency, which ran from 2009 to 2018.

Zuma denies any wrongdoing and has not cooperated with the investigation so far.

Judge Cisse Khambebe said the highest judicial authority had made the ruling "by the majority of its members".

"There is no other option before the Constitutional Court but to conclude that Zuma is guilty of contempt of court," the judge added before announcing the sentence.
