In 1939, Prince Philip met Princess Elizabeth II when he accompanied Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret to visit the British Naval College, where this meeting was arranged by Lord Mountbatten, Prince Philip's maternal uncle, when the royal family was on a tour of the Royal Naval College and Elizabeth was He was 13 years old, and Philip, the prince of Greece and Denmark at the time, was 18 years old, and he was serving in the British Royal Navy, and his engagement to Princess Elizabeth was officially announced in July 1947, and they married on November 20, 1947, and this marriage resulted in the birth of four children, They are Edward, Andrew, Anne and Charles.

Prince Philip was one of Britain's most prominent polo players, he was also a professional cricketer and one of the stars of his team made up of former England stars, and he continued to participate in sports competitions until late in his life, including driving his carriage at Sandringham in 2005.
