Egyptian news vision: - The "Snack" mechanism, which was included in the United Nations resolution ratifying the nuclear agreement concluded with the Islamic Republic in 2015, allows for the semi-automatic re-imposition of all international sanctions on Iran within thirty days.

Among these sanctions are the arms embargo and those related to uranium enrichment.

The United States of America disagreed with its European allies regarding its activation, as France, Britain, and Germany believe that the United States does not have the legal right to launch a "snapback" mechanism to re-impose UN sanctions on the Islamic Republic because it withdrew in 2018 from the nuclear agreement.

Therefore, America accused its European allies of "siding with the mullahs" of Iran. The accusation came from the Secretary of State after activating the "Snapback" mechanism, and Pompeo told reporters in New York after the mechanism was officially launched, "No country but the United States has had the courage and conviction to present a draft resolution, but instead, they chose to bias the Iranian mullahs."

He added, "Our friends in Germany, France, and Britain said in private councils that they do not want to lift the arms embargo."

France, Britain, and Germany said in a joint statement that "the United States is no longer participating in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action after its withdrawal from the agreement" on May 8, 2018.

The three countries added that they could "therefore" not support this initiative, which conflicts with our current efforts aimed at To support the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, meaning the nuclear agreement, stressing that it wants to "protect" the agreement signed five years ago and presented at that time as a unique opportunity to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The Chinese mission at the United Nations also believed that the United States is a "non-participating country" in the agreement, considering that Pompeo's message "cannot" be considered as an activation of the mechanism for returning to the previous situation.

As for the Russian side, it considers that all this mechanism "does not exist." Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a tweet on Twitter that the US report was "null and void," noting that the other signatory countries adopt the same position.
