The porcupine has become a source of danger and nuisance to the nuclear site and its workers, after it caused havoc under the buildings, where it digs and reaches the foundation of the building to build houses for it.
The porcupine was classified as a harmless animal, after a family of porcupines set up a dwelling nearby, only a few years ago, but after its numbers are constantly increasing, the competent authorities are seeking to get rid of it and remove it from the site.
The environment of the place provided a suitable life for the porcupine, and a safe place away from predators that roam the occupied Negev desert, in addition to the availability of food and water, which helped its spread in the aforementioned site.
Until 2017, the environmental authorities have expelled about 100 porcupines, and we kill them to new places in the desert, before they return to the place again.
The porcupine is a rodent characterized by a cover of sharp spines, which it uses to defend itself from predators, its main habitat is in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe.
