Vision, Dubai United Arab Emirates:- After news of suspicious movements of Iranian ships, and about Iranian-Venezuelan cooperation to circumvent US sanctions signed on the two countries, the ship "Kharj", the largest ship belonging to the Iranian navy, sank in the Gulf of Oman after it caught fire in mysterious circumstances.

"Kharj" is the largest logistic support ship belonging to the Iranian army, weighing 33,000 tons. The boilers and propulsion systems have been completely replaced on this ship, and other systems and equipment have been developed.

According to the official Iranian news agencies, efforts failed to rescue the giant logistic support ship "Kharj", which bears the name of the island, which is a major terminal for the export of Iranian oil, noting that all its members were able to disembark safely.

State television said the ship sank near the Iranian port of Jask, on the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz.

The report did not mention the cause of the fire, which broke out on board the support ship, which was on a training mission near the Iranian port of Jask on the Gulf of Oman.

The Kharg serves as one of the few ships in the Iranian Navy capable of providing at sea supplies to its other ships, which can also lift heavy loads and serve as a staging ground for helicopters.

The Kharg, a British-made ship inaugurated in 1977, joined the Iranian navy in 1984 after protracted negotiations following the revolution in Iran in 1979.

According to the Iranian Al-Alam TV channel, the "Kharj" is the largest logistic support ship belonging to the Iranian army, weighing 33,000 tons. The boilers and propulsion systems have been completely replaced on this ship, and other systems and equipment have been developed.

Its length is 207 meters, its width is 26.5 meters, and its speed is about 39.8 kilometers per hour. The ship includes a platform for landing helicopters and carries four cannons and four 12.7 mm machine guns, according to Al-Alam channel.
