Hot tea increases the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Tuesday, 28 December 2021

International vision: Dr. Farhad Islami, one of the leading researchers with the American Cancer Society (ACS), emphasized that there is a healthy way to drink tea.

And “Islami” said: Drinking tea with an amount of more than 700 ml, and a temperature of more than 60 degrees every day; It increases the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by about 90%, according to the "medikforum" website.

Islami says: We can conclude that consuming any hot drinks - not just tea - can lead to such consequences. Islami urged those who drink very hot tea to get used to waiting until it cools down a bit and becomes warm.

He added, "This risk occurs in those who have an excessive love for tea and drink more than ten cups per day, as this drink contains tannins that can interfere with iron absorption, which may lead to iron deficiency in the body."
