There are ways to lower the cholesterol level, by consuming some drinks that have proven effective in controlling it.
- Green tea: Contains catechins and other antioxidant compounds that appear to help lower LDL and total cholesterol levels.
- Soybeans: Low in saturated fat, replacing high-fat dairy products with soy milk may help reduce or control cholesterol levels.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends 25 grams per day of soy protein as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, to help reduce heart disease risk.
Other experts recommend two to three servings of soy-containing foods or drinks per day, with one serving representing 250 ml of soy milk.
- Berries are rich in antioxidants and fiber, both of which may help reduce cholesterol levels.
