Spinal injuries may cause stroke

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:- A new medical study, conducted at the University of Calgary, Canada, in collaboration with researchers from Serbia and Croatia, on the complications of spinal injuries, has produced important results, and issued a warning with these results.

The study warned of an increased risk of stroke, and said that the feeling of fatigue and desire to sleep and breathing problems; are three indicators of the risk of increased stroke after spinal injury.

The study, based on health data for 600,000 people, was published in the journal Neurology and found that spinal injuries were three to four times the risk of stroke.

People with spinal injuries usually complain of breathing problems, which leads to a lack of oxygen that reaches the brain, and is reflected in the decline of brain function.
