International vision: The Wall of Maqra al-Ayoun, one of the oldest historical landmarks in Cairo, was built to extend the Citadel of Salah al-Din with water by raising the Nile waters with streams to the course of the wall, for the water to flow up to the castle, where the castle was the seat of government in Egypt since the Ayyubid era, and the headquarters moved after that to Abdeen Palace .

water aqueducts

The wall of Magra El-Ayoun was called the "Water Aqueduct", as these aqueducts were built by Sultan Al-Nasir Salah El-Din Yusuf Ibn Ayyub, the founder of the Ayyubid state in Egypt who took power in 1169.

And he established a canal to transport water around Cairo, to be called "Water Barrages", known as "The Wall of Magra El-Ayoun", and then renovated it after a long time, Sultan Muhammad bin Qalawun, during the year 1312, and later built for it six water fountains near a mosque Mrs. Aisha.
