"There was a strong thunderbolt at night, and in the morning I received a call from a local farmer who informed me that several hundred sheep had died," said the deputy mayor of Ninotsminda, Alexander Mikiladze.
Mikiladze added, according to "Sputnik": "This is the first case of its kind, we have not heard before that a thunderbolt can kill such a huge number of sheep."
Mikiladze confirmed that the mayor's office will provide support, "after experts examine the incident and accurately determine the cause of the mass death."
The average cost of one lamb is 350 lari (more than $110), so the loss is more than $60,000.
Earlier, a resident of the village of Tavrichanka in the Primorsky Territory was killed by a thunderbolt while catching jellyfish.
